Career exploration is not a destination, it's a journey.

Whether you are a student mapping out possibilities, a parent guiding their child on their next career and/or educational steps, or a professional sensing it is time for a realignment, finding meaningful work begins with honest self-reflection and actions, and it takes time and effort. I always tell my clients, I can't want it more for you than you do for yourself!

Assessing your strengths & environment

Before starting to look up a college major or job titles, assess where your energy thrives. What areas do you excel in? What do you do better than others? What do your family or friends always ask you for help with? What working conditions bring focus? Which environments drain your momentum? Find what you are looking for within your next steps (and just as importantly, not looking for) before jumping in. Career Exploration takes time and reflection to be effective.

A Framework For Every Stage

3 Questions for your next steps

Use these prompts to assess whether your current journey reflects your evolving goals.

1. Discover

What are you naturally good at? Think about what you're better at than others, what do people go to you for. For students, what classes do you do well in, what activities are you involved in?

2. Explore

What are career options with your strengths? How can you learn more, or test options out? Finding resources and people to connect with and learn from is key.

3. Grow

What are reasonable next steps? How do they align with your short and long-term goals? What are you looking for? A job, an educational experience?

helpful Perspective

"Confidence is built through intentional planning, not guesswork."

Remember, making a move and doing SOMETHING is a learning experience. There is never a "right move", everything will give you perspective and teach you something...sometimes it's even what you don't want to do. But continue learning and growing.
